Oh duh! That's what I get for reading that at work. I was going to put more more information in my comment, relating to the crash of the C-130 that killed the 8 men, but then deleted it because I didn't think you wanted all that detail. I thought the hostage crisis was all you were looking for.

Amazingly, I had totally forgotten about this point in history. It was a time in my life when I was busy running after 3 munchkins and I guess much of what was happening in the world just passed me by.
Many years ago while out and about in King of Prussia, I met a former Marine who was involved in this mission.
(I really feel so OLD when I start saying MANY years ago... most of the time I forget I am 51!)
