Tulpehocken is an Indian name meaning ‘land of turtles’. I looked for turtles - but I didn't see any - but I did see Malvin the Chipmunk on that walk - and I saw a matched (in size) pair of Great Blue Herons.
While one stood on the edge of the creek opposite of me amid the wild flowers...
...the other one took to flight and flew up the creek. I felt lucky to capture this bird in flight. They are ungainly looking birds - but they fly with the utmost grace.

They are fascinating birds. We have a few that sometimes hang out at the lake/pond by me. Along with the occasional Egret and a as yet unnamed bird that I can't identify. If it's the last thing I do, I will figure out what it is.

What a beautiful share. When I lived in NOLA, we'd see Egrets, brown pelicans and some other large white bird that looked like the egrets quite often. It's awesome to see birds of those sizes in flight.

Thank you all for get well wishes. They seemed to have paid off as today my shoulder seems to be better.
And Marmite - thanks for the wonderful idea!!! I'll put those squirrel finger puppets on my "What I want for Christmas" list! LOL - they are so cute too!
