Imagine my gleeful expression when I saw this!

Not only it's not just fishes, and its not just New Hampshire and the nuclear plant environs.
This pig hails from Greenpoint, New York (the northernmost neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn on the East River) and the thinking is that the waste water plant there might have been responsible for this... life form!
Unfortunately, while I have found recipes for pig tails, feet, and other assorted anatomical parts, I could not find any for pig eyes. Perhaps one of you has a favorite recipe that's been handed down generation to generation and fondly remembers how Granny used to "make 'em" and would be willin' to share it.
Thanks to LadyStyx for spotting this item in NewYorkShitty's Blog

Saw it while reading and danged if I didnt think of your fishes first! Knew you had to have it.
Hmmm... You know what? People have pig hearts for heart transplants, right? So, I was just thinking... How sucessful would a pig eye transplant be for me? *ponders that thought*
Actually, the way Glaucoma works it'd probably just suffocate that eye too. Oh, well... Thought was there. I mean, that pig's got a spare one... :)
Hmmm, I'll have to dig through all my old recipes handed down to me through the years, see if I have anything for pig's eyes.
Tori - while I was searching for recipes I did happen to come across a number of sites that had something to do with pig eyes and human eye research. I surely wouldn't want to raise your hopes but I do recall one case where the pig eye was considered an excellent model for the human eye for practicing laser surgery for vision correction (which I know isn't the same as transplanting).
With all the "cloning" research going on, maybe someday they will be able to clone one for you ... and do so as you need them (if glaucoma continues to shuts it down your eye.) If this should happen - I would be thrilled.
