Well, I got some sole inserts to cushion my heel so I'm "gellin'" and walking again.
The tidewater areas of Virginia is filled with small towns and beautiful estate houses. The little town of Drewryville is representative.
Drewryville was originally a farm, just a part of a plantation Samuel Drewry left to his son, Major Humphrey Drewry. It is believed that Major Humphrey built the original Drewry home, Cedar Grove (shown above) sometime after 1787 and before 1795. The home is still standing and is owned by the Pope family, descendants of Hattie Pauline Drewry Pope, a great-granddaughter of Major Humphrey.
The Pope Home, located almost immediately across from Cedar Grove, was the home of Hattie Pauline Drewry and Francis Pierce Pope.
Drewryville is also the home of the J. W. Claud & Sons Peanut & Fertilizer Warehouse if you need some peanuts.

My next stop is Mile 1057 - Capron, VA
Capron is a town in Southampton County, Virginia, United States. The population was 167 at the 2000 census. I better not blink, or I will walk right by it and miss it.

Capron reminds me of a town out in Iowa as we were headed for DeMoines. It was located on a street corner...had a post office, general store and one home. Population at the last time we went through was 8 (6 in the home and a couple in the apartment over the store).

That's Des Moines. Not to be confused with Des Plaines, which is pronounced COMPLETELY differently.
I've seen small towns in Iowa, but never one with a population of eight, lmao.
