The New K-Car

Throughout the 1980's Chrysler Corporation manufactured what they called the K-car. The K cars included the Dodge Aries, Plymouth Reliant, and the second generation Chrysler LeBaron. Looking back at them, they sold well, were fairly reliable but pretty insipid and dull.

Today, to honor the little frogginess in all of us...

...or the lot of frogginess in some of YOU!

I went around the corner to take a picture of the new improved K-car**.

A green VW beetle with a licence plate that reads Kermee with two kermit the frogs looking out the back over the parcel shelf
A green New Beetle with the appropriate licence plate

Note the optional equipment - two Kermits looking out the back through the openings in the headrests, and the Kermit head on the antenna.

A close up of the smiling ball-shaped Kermit head on the antenna.
I wonder if this helps the radio work better?

I bet she listens to "I Love Miss Piggy", It's Not Easy Being Green" and perhaps even "Some Place That's Green".

Shot of the inside of the car showing a frog on the dashboard, a kermit hanging on a string, and a mickey mouse sticker on the steering wheel!
Frog on the Dash? Check! Frog hanging by the neck? Check! Huh?

What is with the Mickey Mouse on the steering wheel? I don't know - maybe he was a "fling". I don't know what the woman that drives this car looks like. I've spoken to her with her on her "frog phone" a few times - she works at the local newspaper. I half expect to see her dressed as Miss Piggy if and when I ever do meet her.

I am pleased she knows good frog handling technique and uses antibacterial wipes after... well, afterwards.

Three little smiling frogs climbing over a shovel. The piece looks like it was copper thats aged a frog green color.
These little guys watch the car when it's parked at work

I bet all frogs have some degree of Kermit awe or is it Kermit envy?

**As in Alice Kay's dream car :)

Pretty awesome car, if you ask me. LOL (the color could be a shade or two darker tho)

I love that frog ornament for the flower garden, too. Very cute. I want one like that. :)

We bought Marty a 1988 Plymouth Reliant in 1999. He drove it back and forth to college for a few years. It was a good little car.

Maybe it should be Kermeenvy. I'm afraid I will have green frogmares tonight... They're coming to take me away, ha ha, ho ho, he he. LOL. If you ever meet the owner, please take her picture and share. I'd love to see what she looks like!

I finally know what a K-Car is! The Barenaked Ladies mention a K-Car in their song "Million Dollars" and I've always assumed it was some weird Canadian thing, lmao.

My aunt's plate says FROG E.
