The Burj Dubai, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has been crowned the world's tallest building. Burj Dubai, Arabic for "Dubai Tower", currently measures 635 meters (2,087 ft) tall and it makes the Empire State Building at 381m (1,250 ft) look tiny.
The projected final height of Burj Dubai is officially being kept a secret due to competition from other buildings under construction or proposed; however, figures released by a contractor on the project have suggested a height of around 818m (2,684 ft). Based on this height, the total number of habitable floors is expected to be around 162! This will make it the world's tallest free-standing structure (building, tower, and/or mast) when completed.
Its dizzying 160(+) storeys takes it past Taipei 101 in Taiwan, which at 508m (1,667 ft) had held the tallest building title since it was opened in 2004.
Wikipedia has an artist rendition of what the building will look like when it is ready for occupancy (September 2009) and says, the price of office space at Burj Dubai has reached $4,000 per sq ft and that the Armani Residences, also in Burj Dubai, were selling for $3,500 per sq ft.
The Sears Tower in Chicago, IL was the world's tallest building from 1973 to 1998.* It remains the tallest building in North America. The top of the Sears Tower is the highest point in Illinois.

A hint for those who haven't guessed yet, you can't buy a building like this one at the Sears Building in Chicago - it won't fit without being folded a few times.

Do you know what a saddo I am.....except for going up to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.... I have never been in a building higher then the 5 floor LMFAO........
My dream is to go up the Empire State Buidling......
