It is so cold up here in the north, I decided that some sunshiny and warm pictures were in order. I also re-did the Cheers TV theme song, with my apologies to Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo, the song's writers.

Designated as a segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail, Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail circles the second largest freshwater lake in the contiguous United States. The trail itself is located atop the Herbert Hoover Dike, which surrounds the lake for flood protection, and provides views ranging from scenic lakeside to working agricultural landscapes.
It also takes users near and through communities that are at the heart of agriculture in this part of the state, such as Clewiston and Belle Glade. The area affords opportunities for viewing wildlife, particularly in fall and winter, when birds such as herons, egrets, and a variety of wintering waterfowl are abundant. And of course, fishing opportunities are endless.
The Seminole Indian name Okeechobee actually means big water, an appropriate title for the largest freshwater lake in the United States occurring entirely in one state.
The lake including its access canals and rim canals is approximately 37 miles long by 30 miles wide (448,000 acres, 700 square miles) with an average depth of almost 10 feet.
To fishermen nation wide, Okeechobee is renowned for the sheer numbers of bass it contains per acre and the fact that it produces more Florida trophy bass over 8 pounds than any lake in Florida and the United States!

Damn. Never will hear that song quite the same again.
Ohhh that blue water and the dock looked so calming...made me want to be there with a nice warm wind gently blowing the clouds around.
