For many people Christmas is the loneliest time of the year. Many people face personal crisis. They might have a problem with their marriage, with their children, or with their job or lack of one. They may have an addiction to drugs or alcohol. They may be facing illness or the death of a loved one. And many, many people feel an emptiness inside, a knowledge that something is missing, but they don't know what it is.
The same is true of the least loved of all the aliens, the Orange Striped Barrels (OSBs). Some of them are lost, lonely, and feel quite off-orange this time of year.

Here we see an OSB dart out from of a long line of barrels and run in front of a car...

Badly dented, the OSB is left on the side of the road and is presumably dead.

Seriously, this Christmas you can help those that need help cheering up.
Bake cookies or candy. Deliver them to friends and family.
Play board games or cards together.
Do a puzzle together.
Go Christmas Caroling. Be sure to visit the local nursing homes.
Visit friends. Tell them you enjoy having them in your life.
Have a family slumber party. Bunk out on the family room floor together
Build a snowman. Give him or her a name.
Have a movie marathon, both old and new movies.
Visit a shut in. They will enjoy the company.
Go ice skating.
Drive around and look at Christmas lights at night.
Make a video to send to far away friends and family.
Spend time together just talking.
Make apple cider or eggnog.
Take a senior citizen to lunch or invite them to your home for a meal.
Take in some free community events.
Adopt a needy family.
Make a list of New Years Resolutions as a family.
Play video games with your kids.
Tell your family how much they mean to you.
Make hot chocolate.
Take food to a local pantry or homeless shelter.
Watch a bowl game parade.
Donate old toys to a homeless shelter.
Make an old fashioned gingerbread house.
Have a snowball fight.
Have the children put on a puppet show.
Watch old home movies.
Reminisce about loved ones who are no longer with you.
Make homemade bird treats.

Loved the pics but would hate to be "trapped" in all that traffic.
Those are all wonderful suggestions, Iggy. The giving of oneself is a wonderful gift. I think we should all do that from time to time, not just during the holidays.
I hope you have a happy and healthy new year, my friend. God Bless. *hugs*
Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention. I had no idea they suffered so!
Happy New Year!
Those poor OSB's. They are so underappreciated!
Great list. I agree with AK, some of those things can be done all through the year. Somehow we've stopped being a "social" society, and become more isolated from everyone around us.
Cant even remember where we were headed when I took those. I suspect it was the August trip to New Jersey.
Wonderful ideas there iggy!
I have so gotta somehow take a photo of the millions of cones up the road where they are building a huge new roundabout, I almost crash everytime when Im there looking for a good photo angle amongst all the traffic lol
I NEED to get out tomorrow Im now going stir crazy....... *rocking from side to side and dribbling*....

*wipes the drool off Marmite's chin* Geeze!
I refuse to kill myself on the ice Iggy. No ice skating for me! That poor OCHA - so sad.
Great list and if we would each do one of the items on it once a week, there would be a lot more happy people running around.
Love that list - thanks so much for sharing :)
Hope you have a wonderful new year!
OSB...may he rest in peace..
Those poor, poor things! I definitely agree we can help all year round with your wonderful list.
Oh! That poor OSB! Did he survive? Were the SBMT (striped barrel medical team) able to get there in time to save him???
P.S. Doesn't everyone name their snowmen? Is it just me?
Very nice list. I hope your Christmas was a good one and your new year is as well.
Happy New year Iggy! Sorry I am late again and trying to catch up on posts.
Hugs!
