I've started to write - and assembled pictures at least on five separate occasions and then ... threw what little I had away in exasperation or disgust with how uninteresting I found the topic at hand after I had started with them. I would never make a good deadline writer. I find doing things, just about anything, on a regular basis to be difficult.
Well - I'm going to publish this ... messy hodgepodge ... and call it Long-Before-Friday Fragments or maybe I'm just way late and its Long-After-Friday, anywhooooooo.
The first unblogged trip was to the Philadelphia Art Museum on a perfect sunny day to take pictures of the newly renovated facade. I also saw the tail end of the Philadelphia Marathon and admired the determination of those crossing the finish line literally hours after the winners. You can see the pictures (here) - there was some nudity involved.
The second unblogged trip was some Thanksgiving Day shots of the family and the pets. You can see the pictures (here).
A third unblogged trip to Burlington, New Jersey (the home of the world famous coat factory and the little known Rickshaw Manufacturing Company that actually sold rickshaws to China. Pictures from this trip are mixed in with the Thanksgiving day ones above.
Last weekend, I went to Massey, Maryland on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay to attend an Open Hanger Party at a small grass airstrip and museum. It was cold but sunny and lots and lots of airplanes were seen taking off, landing and doing stunts. There was also a lot of wonderful food. You can see the pictures (here).
I apologize for not being able to completely describe all the pictures.
I saw the statute below at the West entrance to the Philadelphia Art Museum. It stuck me with its ... somewhat hideous but evocative presence.
Statue of Social Consciousness - sculpted by Jacob Epstein, 1954
A grand sane towering seated mother Chair'd in the adamant of Time. -Walt Whitman
Since the current exhibit at the museum is titled "Arshile Gorky in Context" and runs from October 16, 2009 to January 10, 2010, one has to assume these orange coneheads have rather eclectic taste in art. I went in to check Mr. Gorky out - based on the orange conehead's recommendations, of course.

Arshile Gorky was an expatriate Russian artist that lived in New York City. Born in Turkish Armenia, Gorky (c. 1902– 1948) emigrated to America in 1920.
At the risk of insulting school age children everywhere, I call this "tape to the front of the refrigerator" art.

I love the typewriter!
I was wondering what you have been up to lately!
I find I have a hard time putting things into words as well. When that happens, I just start writing about something else that really doesn't matter, just to get the juices flowing.
Iggy, if anyone is a writer it would most definately be you, I couldn't imagine writing the blogs that you do. Your very descriptive and you keep your readers captivated and you have so much to say, I'm totally opposite, I love your blogs and looked forward to hundreds more :o)
I loved the pictures, especially the ones of your family and the doggies. The pigeon picture is cute and those statue pictures are pretty interesting, thanks so much for sharing, HUGS
I know what you mean when you say you're struggling to write. I'm afraid to say anything too negative but with the blues it’s hard to find something perky to say.
Um, I like art but I so don't get those statues... now the other photo of the west entrance is very nice.
I'm with j&gbr...it's hard to write much of anything "perky" when the blahs hit. At this time of year, they hit and hit hard. Doesnt help matters when that nasty ol SAD kicks in too. Man, I really need some sunshine...
Iggy, we all have times when we just can't put it down on paper....so to speak.
Your pictures are great. I like that yellow plane. Very colorful.
I think Cappy would be jealous.
You know we love you for you, and not what you write. I was happy to see that you had moved to the top of my blog list meaning a new post! Thanks for sharing your photos, I am glad that you have been out and about. Gotta get to the Art Museum.
Cones....lol!
I hear ya on the non-coherent thought process leading to inability to blog. I'm in the same boat right now.
Love that pigeon pic.
I wish I could travel like you! At the moment my life is made up of school work, books and late night coffee drinking. Very boring in comparison to your trips.
Thanks for sharing your photos.
that sculpture was interesting! I liked the hangar shots; all very nice pictures! seems like you got to enjoy some fun times and got to visit cones as well; they seemed like they were patiently waiting their turn to enter the exhibit!!
its hard sometimes to come up with creative blog posts; I'm struggling myself right now because of "issues" and wondering if I want to write about them but then how many pictures of Koda can one stand to look at?
betty
You know my comments on your Flickr pics. I try not to miss commenting on any of them. Even if it's just an awww. :)
Keep the pics coming. The stories will write themselves without must trouble. Just let them flow.
*hugs* Thanks for today.
must = much. (my brain is mush tonight...sorry)
I know what that's like...when you can't quite articulate what is going on in your head. And then the pressure to put pen to paper or fingers to keys...I hear ya!
Thanks for sharing your adventures! I always enjoy reading about them.
Seems like several bloggers I follow are having a hard time writing lately. I know I don't like to spread negatives, either--so it gets hard when you have the blahs or are sad or upset about something you can't (or shouldn't) write about on your blog. I try not to say anything bad about anybody and not to ever talk about other people's issues or their personal stuff, you know? Which is why I mostly talk about myself--hehe! My tortoise life with Miss Karma. Anyways, you have every right to be in a funk. Life does that sometimes--weighs on you. But it always gets better, too. :)
I have to say that I find that statue really creepy. The abstract "art" is exactly the stuff I look at and don't get--at all. Yes--frig art is a perfect description--hehe! I love the pigeons! I had looked at all your new pictures, even if I didn't make comments, Iggy. Been away from the computer a lot myself lately--just doing other things, as you know.
Hope you are laughing again soon. Most heartily! Sending you smiles and hugs. Your Fargo friend. :):)
I know how you feel Iggy, I haven't even been able to compose comments lately, seriously!
I love your shots, the orange cones are my favorite :-)
for someone who is 'struggling' you do wonderfully.
You tricked me! I went looking for nudity and just saw some gorgeous photos ;)
And I think Granny said it best, for someone struggling, you sure do an interesting post.
I enjoyed all the pictures and just seeing a post from you.
Huge hugs! and as always, keep on keeping on!
Oh, and I agree with you about the Gorky mess... except it would have only made it to the side of my fridge with the intent of getting rid of it sooner, rather than later!
TO is totally humiliated at that comparison. I'll keep you informed if he forgives you. He tends to only forgive me. I'm his one and only. :) That's why all the fridge pics are for me!
Your voice is around....it's just a matter of when the fingers want to catch up.
Your lack of posts is understandable. And at least you're managing to visit these places, even if you aren't feeling up to posting about your trips!
Hugs, hugs, and more hugs!
sometimes I start writing and find myself in a total different place then planned. Usually better. But I haven't had much time (or energy) to write much lately.
I have to agree with you. G*rky is D*rky.
I guess it takes all kinds. I want my music, my art, my literature, and even entertainment to pleasure and lift me up in spirit. I'll leave the contemplation of cwap to other people.
"nudity" bwaaa ha ha ha. You got me.
