It's been a long time since I posted anything - I am still "amongst the living."
This morning I was told by my brother - "Since people think 13 is unlucky, the year is now officially 2014a. Next year will be 2014b, and then the years will resume with normal numbering in 2015. Microsoft will fix all computer calendars in a software patch."
Being an engineer of supposedly rational thought process, I find Triskaidekaphobia to be ridiculous, so I had a good laugh at that. :)
Anyhooo... I was able to "get out and about" some over the holiday week - thanks to a lot of working out in the local YMCA pool and other therapy. I've actually gotten some movement back and the old shoulder isn't carping (quite so loudly.) January 16th will (hopefully) see the long wait come to end and the shoulder worked on once more. Hopefully I'll bounce back quickly and be able to return to the walking and other (blog reading?) exercises of old. I've lost some weight and feel pretty good lately.
The Schuykill River bike path on a dreary New Years Day - found me gingerly walking - testing my breathing and arm sling. The blood clot in my lungs may or may not still be there - but I find myself being able to breath well enough to walk just short of 5 miles in the cold before getting weary. Obviously I didn't have to dodge much traffic!
In the Flickr side bar - you will see how cold and snow makes the Morris Arboretum look! John and Lydia Morris look (and felt) cold! The new swans didn't seem to mind the cold much - they were out swimming in the pond, promenading and showing off. I managed getting up and down the hilly paths there - and felt encouraged and nearly excited by the effects of working out in a warm swimming pool. I will continue to do what I can - I miss being outdoors and taking photos and hunting the elusive Charlie photo - as well as watching the antics of the Orange Conehead Alien (OCHA) "peoples."
Also in Flickr, is a "what is it?" snow creature my neighbor built. I'm still wondering, I'll have to catch up with him and ask! Meanwhile, any of you have any thoughts?
It will be a long road ahead in 2013 (2014a, if you must) - but my concerns are not of me... they are of others - others like Tori - fighting anemia and colds; Alice Kay - dealing with an unknown internal issue; Dorkys Ramos - battling the dreaded "C" - and other friends with serious and severe health issues - which make mine look trivial (and they are, in comparison).
Also in my mind are those that are dealing with loved ones that are not feeling their best, privacy being respected - I'll not name them - but they know who they are - and I want them to know I am thinking about them and theirs.
I biggest wish for 2013 will be the return to (and/or continued) good health for all - and that lots of laughter and smiles will follow each and everyone of us - every step we make in the year to come.

You've been missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the friends you've mentioned. Sometimes life's trials are really hard but together, we will work though most of it and if nothing else, realize we are not alone in this crazy world.
All the best in 2014a (2013) and always.
P.S. Got DD an 'Eviltron' from ThinkGeek in her stocking. She is already pranking people. HAHAHA
Iggy!! Hi!!! I wasn't aware of the clots in your lungs. Be careful with those! It's good to see you up and at them. I need to do the same. Thank you for the Hatfield link! :)
Be well, Iggy. 2014a will be a good year!!!
I've missed your posts.
Happy 2014a! May you have a healthy year.
WTG on that close to 5 mile walk, Iggy!! Its been a tough year for you with injuries and blood clots and whatnot; we can only hope that 2013 (or 2014a) is a much healthier year all around. Honestly, can you imagine having the year be like that 2014a and then 2014b? Talk about confusing :)
One might have to go back and look at events that happened in 1913 and see if that was an unlucky year or not.
It is good too that you dropped some weight.
All in all I do hope 2013 is a great year for you. Happy New Year!!
betty
I'm so glad to see a post from you! Will return to check out the unidentifiable object when I have a few moments. Am heading out for my weekly evening of quilting with the church ladies.
My heart sank when I saw Dorky is dealing with the big "C". Prayers, prayers, prayers.
Huge hugs. Will check back later.
So good to hear from you again. I hope 2014a brings you good health and sweet happiness.
Don't be away so long next time, ok?
=)

I love you...
Happy New Year! I hope everything goes well on the 16th!
So nice to see you out and about, getting some exercise, fresh air and pictures too!
The swans look like they're doing well, along with the ducks and white chin straps.
Will continue to keep you and all my ailing friends in my thoughts and prayers for a healthy and happy 2014a.
Hugs!
It was great to see a post from you. I noticed you've been doing some catching up. :)
I hope all goes well with the procedure on the 16th. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers, as well as others. Been a rough couple of months here, but I keep telling myself it has to get better soon....right? Even though yesterday was another test of endurance. :\
I'll go check out your pictures before turning in for the night. I always enjoy seeing what you have to share. Share when you can, rest when you can, and enjoy life when you can.
Happy 2014a (or whatever this year turns out to be...lol) *HUGS*
Great to see an update!
Let me know if I can do anything for you after your surgery...
a meal, an errand, anything, really, please call or email me! I mean it!!! January is pretty quite as far as pre-committed events on the calendar!
I'm off on Friday, I might have to look at the weather and take a solo trip (w/o Tara) to Morris Arbor. I need to find the swans. We totally missed that area last time!
Hugs!
So glad you are back!! Happy New Year!!! I hope you and all our friends get back to feeling healthy again too. Sounds like you are on the mend, and that makes me very happy indeed!
Big hugs and take good care of yourself, OK?!
So glad to see you back! :)
And yes! Happy New Year to you. Hope it will be the best for you...well, until the next year, that is.
HA to 2014a. NO to 2012 B . We're done with that.
You're walking 5 miles. THAT IS GOOD! I haven't been walking hardly at all. I feel like a bowl of tapioca.
Keep us posted please!
Hey there Iggy, just wanted to stop by and say hello I need to get out and walk like you that's great! I will do my best to visit frequently miss you hugs!!
You have such a kind heart. I am always enjoying reading your posts. Your words are always so honest and kind. I hope you are well. Our oldest son who is in good health started a diet for the new year. He feels wonderful and is losing weight slowly but is looking great! I need to join him! I let the cold winter make me lazy! So we are starting the healthy eating program too!
I have a long prayer list and lots of dear bloggy friends need prayer. It is a wonderful feeling here to share our thoughts with others ans make friendships that will last a long time.
Although the New Year is getting into the middle of its third month I wish you much joy and peace and good health. It is a real honor knowing you here. Take care
